HOME HEALTH AIDE / CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT
The Home Health Aide / Certified Nursing Assistant provides personal care to the patient and performs selected household tasks in the patient/family home in accordance with the plan of care developed by the Registered Nurse. As a representative of Family Care Visiting Nurse and Home Care Agency, LLC (FCVN), supports and fosters the philosophy, goals, and objectives of FCVN.
Reports to: HHA Program Supervisor/HHA Nurse Supervisor
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Certification to practice as a Home Health Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant or equivalent in the State of Connecticut.
Ability to make meaningful observations regarding the patient.
Ability to recognize patient needs and maintain a professional relationship in dealing with the patient and/or their family member(s).
Prior experience preferred.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Home visits to patients. Sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting. Potential exposure to blood and body fluids. High-stress environment related to dealing with patient illness.
Physical and Mental Effort:
When providing patient care, this position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force with bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling movements routinely. When not providing patient care, this position involves sitting most of the time, with walking or standing for brief periods, exerting up to 10% of force occasionally and negligible
amounts of force frequently.
The HHA/CNA must also have the ability to enter buildings using varied levels of stairs in order to provide service to
patients. Must possess good written and oral communication skills and be able to work in a variety of environments. In addition, must be able to work cooperatively with members of the team to support home care patients and families.
